The Westminster Shorter Catechism Songs
The full 4-CD Set
The complete set of all four CDs by Holly Dutton, based on the questions and answers of the Westminster Shorter Catechism. She’s written a song for each of the 107 questions!
These CDs are Holly’s ingenious creation of, who understands that we all learn material by heart better when there’s music to go along with it. Memorization always comes easier with musical accompaniment! Today’s children don’t normally speak in the sentence structure designed by the Westminster Shorter Catechism authors. That makes this work all the more valuable!
So Holly has designed these simple melodies with acoustic guitar, featuring the questions and answers, verbatim, of the Westminster Shorter Catechism in musical form. With her own melodious voice, the songs are simple and engaging for children and adults to sing comfortably. This project is also valuable to any adult who wants to master the doctrines of the Shorter Catechism! You know that music makes truth more stick-able to you, too – it’s not just for little children.
Each question and answer is sung and played through twice on the CD.
About Holly Dutton
As a young teen, Holly began to discover the joy of music. She was acquainted with contemporary worship at her home church, and began to play piano with the youth worship team there. Enthralled with music, she practiced piano and violin in every free moment. Determined to become the next big Contemporary Music Sensation, Holly pursued a Music Business degree at Belmont University in Nashville.
During those Belmont years, she learned about Reformed Theology through classes and communities at Christ Community Church in Franklin, and fell in love with its rich doctrines. She there first learned about the Westminster Shorter Catechism. As a personal challenge, she began setting it to music. Discovering how easy it was to memorize when set to music, she completed the entire Catechism in two years. Holly lives in Virginia Beach, VA and works in educational music as a teacher and performer.
