Skillful author Charlotte Maria Tucker (known to many only as A. L. O. E. – A Lady of England) draws a compelling comparison between a jewel of great value and our own souls. Her main character, Maurice Somers, truly understands this, and he struggles to guard his own soul against those who would rob him of the greatest treasure of all.

Reader Reviews

“I was given this book as a gift and wasn’t sure how it would be. I was pleasantly surprised and would read again. Loved the ending!” — Cynthia Raburn, Madras, Oregon

“I read The Jewel a few years ago for the first time, and knew this would be one I would re-read from time to time. A. L. O. E. is an expert at forming interesting stories which also illustrate a spiritual principle. This story follows a lost diamond through all its various owners, who each lose it in one way or another, demonstrating the way many people neglect their most important possession – their souls.  It is not an easy read and is not fast-paced or extremely attention-grabbing, but it is well worth the time and attention required to read it. The language is not particularly difficult, the reader just has to be aware that many different characters will appear briefly, disappear, and possibly reappear later on. It can be a bit frustrating for a lazy reader, but worth the effort!” — Alayna May, Bronson, Florida

“Our soul is more precious than rubies. Surrendering to the Holy Spirit to live His Life by saturating our soul with Himself is the best choice. Do not degrade your own soul with sin and fleshly living.” — Shirley Alt, Lynchburg, VA
