You can read this story of this part of the life of Moses in Exodus 1-2
The people of Israel had a problem. There had been no rain for a long time and now there was nothing to eat. Many Israelites decided to go to Egypt where there was food to buy. Surely life would be better there …
However, the Egyptians didn’t like all these foreigners invading their country and so they made the Israelite people their slaves. They were made to work very hard. The Egyptians treated God’s people with cruelty and life was hard and difficult. Eventually, there were so many Israelites living in the land, the king decided that all the baby boys belonging to Israelite families were to be killed. He thought that this would put an end to the Israelites.
However, the nurses could not bring themselves to kill the baby boys and the king became even more angry. He ordered that all the baby boys must be thrown into the River Nile. One brave family from the tribe of Levi had a baby boy – they made plans to protect him. The mother was determined that her child should live. The baby’s name was Moses.
