Safely Home (Randy Alcorn)

$15.99 $12.50

A soul-stirring story of two college friends who reconnect after 20 years. One is living life apart from God in comfortable corporate America, while the other is living for Christ under intense persecution in China. This challenging book will convict the heart of readers to live in the light of eternity.

The story: Executive Ben Fielding hits upon a perfect plan to make millions of dollars, using Chinese labor to manufacture its electronic components. To kickstart his plan, he visits China, where he stays with college roommate Li Quan, whom he hasn’t seen in over 20 years. From Li, Ben learns that his initial impressions of China from research and visits over the years are false, but Ben doesn’t believe Li’s stories of the persecution of Christians until Li is taken to jail.

As Ben rediscovers Jesus through Li’s faith, he discovers the truth that God does not promise us an easy life in this world, but a superior happiness – both here, even in suffering, and unspeakable joy in the life to come. Alcorn, normally known for his rich doctrinal books such as Heaven and Money, Possessions, and Eternity here conveys many parallel truths through a fictional story which lifts readers high with joy and shows us also the depths of immeasurable sorrow, as Ben and Li’s story unfolds.

A Story About Living in Light of Eternity

A soul-stirring story of two college friends who reconnect after 20 years. One is living life apart from God in comfortable corporate America, while the other is living for Christ under intense persecution in China. This challenging book will convict the heart of readers to live in the light of eternity.

The story: Executive Ben Fielding hits upon a perfect plan to make millions of dollars, using Chinese labor to manufacture its electronic components. To kickstart his plan, he visits China, where he stays with college roommate Li Quan, whom he hasn’t seen in over 20 years. From Li, Ben learns that his initial impressions of China from research and visits over the years are false. Still, Ben doesn’t believe Li’s stories of the persecution of Christians until Li is taken to jail.

As Ben rediscovers Jesus through Li’s faith, he discovers the truth that God does not promise us an easy life. Rather, in this world, He promises a superior happiness, even in suffering, and unspeakable joy in the life to come.

Randy Alcorn, normally known for his rich doctrinal books such as Heaven and Money, Possessions, and Eternity here conveys many parallel truths through a fictional story which lifts readers high with joy and shows us also the depths of immeasurable sorrow, as Ben and Li’s story unfolds.

About the Author

RANDY ALCORN is an author and the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching principles of God’s Word and assisting the church in ministering to unreached, unfed, unborn, uneducated, unreconciled, and unsupported people around the world. His ministry focus is communicating the strategic importance of using our earthly time, money, possessions, and opportunities to invest in need-meeting ministries that count for eternity. He accomplishes this by analyzing, teaching, and applying biblical truth.

Before starting EPM in 1990, Randy served as a pastor for fourteen years. He has a bachelor of theology and a master of arts in biblical studies from Multnomah University and an honorary doctorate from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and has taught on the adjunct faculties of both. A New York Times bestselling author, Randy has written more than fifty books, including Heaven, The Treasure Principle, and the award-winning novel Safely Home. His books have sold more than ten million copies and have been translated into more than sixty languages.

Randy has written for many magazines, including EPM’s Eternal Perspectives. He is active on Facebook and Twitter and has been a guest on more than 700 radio, television, and online programs.

Randy resides in Gresham, Oregon, with his wife, Nanci. They have two married daughters and are the proud grandparents of five grandsons. Randy enjoys time spent with his family, biking, snorkeling, underwater photography, researching, and reading.
