Falsely Accused in the High Sierras (Frederick Vining Fisher)

$22.00 $18.50

From the moment he reaches the rough mining town of Gold City, looking frightened as a light-struck deer, Jeb knows that his life will never be the same. And he’s right. He learns what it is to be in the world and yet not of it; in its turmoil and din, its jealousy and greed, Jeb strives to live out his faith with integrity. But the years bring unexpected temptations, which Jeb is unprepared to face.

Will he give in to the pressure? The vicious wrath of Dan Dean rears its ugly head time and time again, until Jeb finds himself being accused of incomprehensible wrongdoing. He suffers deeply in his own version of Gethsemane and Calvary until, at last, the depths of tribulation give way to heights of glory.

Reader reviews

A great Christian role model!
“Poor and pathetic, Jeb arrives in Gold City looking for his father, who had left years before in order to make a fortune for his family. But when Jeb finds out his father died as a penniless gambler, he is devastated—and alone. Jeb is adopted by a local old man, and he is raised in the community, though Jeb never feels quite accepted among the locals. Soon, he comes to a faith in Jesus Christ, and the book watches him grow as he learns to minister to those who hate him—while overcoming some of the hardest tragedies of his young life. Jeb’s growth from a pitiful little boy with faith to a strong young man who lives for his Savior is inspiring and admirable. This is a great book, especially for young boys, as they can read about the thrilling dramas of the old west mixed with a great Christian role model!”

“I have to admit, I like books that are balanced and inspiring and leave one with a desire to make the world a better place. This book does that, but more like real life, many parts of the main character’s life don’t quite work out. This book left me with a heavy heart yet also with positive resolve. Still a great book.” — Jack Snavely of Castle Rock, Colorado

About the Lamplighter Rare Collector’s Series

Lamplighter stories are much more than good and wholesome reading for the family.  The inspiring role models found in Lamplighter books show a child that outward compliance alone will not carry a child through the stresses and disappointments soon to be faced in adolescence and adulthood, nor are they a substitute for faith in Christ.  As we learn of perseverance, courage, loyalty, humility, these are qualities to emulate and pursue, but as children read in stories of others like them trying their best and falling short, they will powerfully learn their need for the gospel.  Though life is often not easy, we can be confident that each disappointment and trial is designed by a loving God for our good.

Lamplighter books are carefully designed to draw children back to the Bible, to ensure that each story reflects the character of God.  Often, key Scriptures are referenced so that they may be stored in a child’s heart. Lamplighter volumes are recognizable right away by their beautiful, high-quality bindings.  But the other unique feature of a Lamplighter book, in contrast to other publications of the same title, is that the Lamplighter editions have been enhanced with helpful footnotes and woven with threads of Biblical truths that will be etched into an awakened moral conscience. These characteristics are what make our Lamplighter Collection so unique and highly valued.
