Interesting information about the English Standard Version:
- ESV translation was overseen by a 15-member Translation Oversight Committee, and another team of more than 50 Translation Review Scholars
- In 2013, Gideon’s International—a ministry that distributes free Bibles to locations including hotels, motels, hospitals, convalescent homes, medical offices, domestic violence shelters, prisons, and jail – announced they would change the modern English version they place, from the New King James Version (NKJV) to the ESV. This change will make the ESV one of the most widely distributed versions in the world.
- The readability level of the ESV text is around 8th grade (7.4 on the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level and 74.9 on the Flesch Reading Ease). Just for comparison purposes, the NIV (New International Version) is also at the 7th-8th level and the KJV (King James Version) is at the 12th grade level.

“The ESV represents a new level of excellence in Bible translations—combining unquestionable accuracy in translation with a beautiful style of expression. It is faithful to the text, easy to understand, and a pleasure to read. This is a translation you can trust.”
R. Albert Mohler, Jr., President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
“I appreciate deeply the evident commitment to the absolute truth of Scripture, and the willingness of these scholars to yield to the Spirit rather than bend to the wind of cultural trends.”
