“If You will prove to me that You are, and if You will give me peace, I will give You my whole life.” God graciously heard even Isobel’s inadequate prayers and saved her, ending years as a questioning, lost woman, and began to strengthen her for decades of fruitful missionary service with her husband, John Kuhn, in China.
Their enduring work (1928 to 1954) among the formerly unevangelized Lisu peoples of China and Thailand is one of the most famous missionary stories of the 20th century. When the Communist party took power in China, they continued their labors among the same people group in Thailand.
